Interests
At the moment, I work 55 hours a week. It bores me exceedingly, but at the same time it gives me a rush. Knowing that I can do all this work... That i have the potential to succeed in whatever I do by just working hard enough... Building up my CV...

It fills me with pride. And fatigue.

By doing this, I have killed every gram of creativity within me. I used to love making up stories when I was walking or going somewhere by car, bus, train or boat. There were no boundaries to my imagination. No limits. I would collect ideas, work on the stories in my head, then write them down when I got home.

Now, however, I get on the train - and I sleep. I have no energy left but to sleep. I come home - I do more work. I eat. I run. I go to sleep.

This has to change.

Till Christmas. I'll give it till Christmas to change. I'll finish the projects I've got going - take on some more if they're interesting. But at Christmas it changes. I'll quit my part-time jobs, and only focus on my full-time job. Instead of sleeping on the train and working when I get home, I'll instead dig out that story that has been brewing in me the last 3 years.

I might not be the best person to tell the story - but the story deserves to be told. I'd hate to see it die with me. Even if it's just one story; I want to lave that fingerprint behind.

I won't upload any of it to Deviant Art. It's more for personal reasons I write this here. This will be by oath - my promise - to myself. It's not just an idea anymore. Not just something I said out loud. It's written down - here - in front of you - and in front of me.

I've already started the first chapter. And so I've started the another chapter of my life.

Wish me luck!

-Elin

just stumbled upon your gallery and not a minute too late.
the way you use colours, and capture light, and atmospheres is utterly stunning.
I have lately been a bit down in the creativity department but your art is so inspiring it has given me a boost (or much-needed kick up the derriere ;))
thank you.. I look forward to seeing more ;)

Wow! That is the most awesome comment I have ever received. Thank you! Thank you so much! You have no idea how much this means to me :) I'm just starting out, so getting people interested is the difficult bit :( Meh!

Anyways - sending you a massive glomp! :glomp: Thank you! :)

Also, I had a peek in your gallery. You seem to do lots of different things? What do you enjoy the most?

haven't really found out yet.. in art (and almost any other way of life) I can't seem to find my real calling.
I grew up with tratitional art, then discovered Photoshop, got hooked, and for the last year or so I've been discovering my photo-gene (half my family are avid amateurs, bordering professionalism in my dad's case)
I keep wandering from one medium to the next, so's not to get bored...one day I might mix them. Still TONS to learn across the board but since I'm autodidact it's fun... so excited about the road, more than the destination.

Not necessarily. You can scan your artwork, but you if you've got a camera, just take a photo of it. That's what I've done with all of my drwaings/paintings. Just make sure you got enough light (avoid flash, as it tends to create a reflection), and remember to crop the picture. Just make it fit the artwork itself ;)

I'm curious now! What do you do?

i draw mostly manga sketches not a big fan of coloring im kind of trying to do it big as a manga artist. i have all of my characters and have all of my scenes and stuff but im kind of worried that i would end up as a graphic artist instead of a manga artist. once i get things done ill post them up on deviant art. ^^ i cant wait to show the world how much i love yuri :D and thanks for the info i gotta wait for a camera though.....grrrrr

A graphic artist is better than no artist, right? But still... If you want to have a go at being a manga artist - do it! Don't let the fear of failing hold you back!

And hurray for showing the world that you love yuri :D :D :D
